stop using companies that use dpd

Get yourself a landline phone OP. A wireless one and a non electric wired one. Covers any issues you may have in the future. Cost outlay for this is potentially zero.

The courier issue just comes down to the simple fact the consumer has been conditioned into free delivery being the norm. If only we had a nationalised well run organisation that delivered up to 7 days a week that could visit every property in the UK whilst supporting UK jobs too.

Well this is getting out of hand now. Going to email Nintendo to complain. Least they can do is refund me the delivery charge.

Are DPD on strike as well now?
I don't think so, but it's Christmas (which is always likely to make things a bit slower) and one of the other delivery companies is on strike meaning they're likely seeing a lot of additional packages that might have normally be seen RM.

dpd always work well for me ,i divert my parcels to a Wadebridge supermarket so i can collect on the way back from work, nice accurate time slots when i am not working so i don't have to wait in .
my last experience was with Peter Tyson (amazing customer service) and dpd.bought dac/amp received next day , dac/amp faulty, they picked up the next day, no drama, refund given, bought different dac/amp received day after

DPD for me here are usually excellent. However I had one item delayed for 3 days. The driver said they're just really busy atm. Fair do. What I did find slightly annoying is that they are also having to deliver for Evri. Just shows how bad Evri are struggling. Although as hermes they were still bad. And now they have to get a competitor to deliver their backlog for them. Oh dear. I made sure to tell the two big named companies that they should cancel their Evri contract and use DPD who were actually fulfilling their orders.

What's the longest you've been without a phone recently?

It's weird how conditioned we become to taking it everywhere. I've had no need to do that for a couple of days.
About a week. I was down doing a job in Cambridge when my phone decided it had had enough of being a phone and would prefer to be a shiny brick instead. Had to get the train back (tickets and timetable on my phone, sigh), then go to a gig in the evening at a venue I'd never been to before (memorised the two mile walk from Google maps before leaving home :p). Didn't get a new one until the following weekend.

Every time someone said something along the lines of "oh that must be so liberating, disconnecting for a while" I had to resist the urge to slap them.

A non electric phone costs about £10-12. If you have a power cut and mobile network goes down, this is the only way to contact people.

Judging by your join date you probably remember when we used to have to print instructions from RAC route planner and carry a 3210 that was just a phone.
Ah, happier times ;)

DPD have been faultless for me, until today.

I order a lot of stuff for my RC hobby and the rc shops all use DPD and I always always get it next day.

However OcUK shipped my chair and gas strut yesterday.

gas strut came today with another parcel (RC car stuff :-) ) by 1 van, but the other van with the chair made it to stop 6. I was stop 60 odd. Nothing else.

Apparently due for delivery tomorrow now.

I had a similar thing with Yodel yesterday and now it just says delayed lol. Would have thought it'd just be bumped to the next day, but no

I'm guessing it it only got to stop 6 it probably got stuck in the snow/involved in an accident or broke down.
I was expecting an order to be delivered by APC today, but it looks like that's been delayed with a notice on their website that due to the weather they're having to stop some stuff for the safety of their staff, which makes me think they've probably got some depot's iced in or something or even just have a steep road they can't avoid and know it's risky to use until it's cleared.

The week before Xmas, Royal mail are on strike, DPD have openly stated they are super busy and they may be delays, (I've had parcels delivered out of the time slot provided in the last week) but no lets post on OCUK moaning

I was not moaning. I was merely citing a delay of the service on a relevant thread. Partly to have a bit of a chat on the forum.

Get back in your box.

Apparently my parcel was just delivered :-)
No sign of it outside my house.

When DPD fail, apparently they do fail hard. Lol

We use them for 90% of our overnight shipments. Shipped one item today for next day delivery & had a call this afternoon from the receiver saying they have now received a notification the earliest delivery date in now next Wednesday!

Its a knock on from a combo of Christmas, Royal Mail strikes & DPD generally being run by idiots these past couple of years.

We've also had numerous items held at the Hinckley depot for 4 or 5 days recently

Is it worth ordering online still or has the ship sailed for Christmas delivery?

I could save £12 by ordering online and getting express shipping, but is it really worth the chance of delivery services being over stretched and having the parcel delayed...
