VISTA 64 BIT - SP1 and its updates.
Hi all,
I started to receive bsods randomly, i naturally thought it was my overclock.. So i would undone all settings, it would run longer but still crash.
I thought it may be faulty hardware, i tried testing memory seperately but no cigar..
Finally found out it was a problem with Vista, the startup had corrupted and was literally unrepairable. The repair tools, the msdos prompt tools.. Third party tools, nothing would work to repair it and now Vista did not start up at all.
I looked at my watch, cursed how late it was and set to work in reinstalling vista on a seperate hardrive. 1 hour later (and a few beers i may add) i realised i just couldn't be assed to reinstall all 186 programs back on my second hardrive as they no longer worked because i guess they lack the registry files that are installed or synced with windows OS itself.
Now.. I can still look into the old OS hardrive and infact have made a backup of all the files within it like game saves and what not... But...
MY QUESTION IS:
Is it possible to grab the registry files or whatever else is needed from the old OS hardrive so that instead of having to install all my programs again, they just all work.
I have 3 hardrives.. 1 has bad startup, 1 has new OS on it, 1 has all programs that were ever installed.
Help, this could save me literally hours and hours and hours.
I just thank God <<whatever that is>> that Steam and World of Warcraft still work without registry files.
