We have a central screen in our office that we are looking to use to permanently show our vehicle tracking page so we can see where engineers are. The problem is, the software automatically logs out of the web page after 15 minutes of user inactivity which we want to stop. We just want to logon in the morning and let it run throughout the day with no user interaction.

I've spoken to the vendors but they say there is no way to stop this timeout, its hard coded in the app. I've looked at automatically refreshing the page every ten minutes, but I get the "Resend information?" message that needs to be clicked on.

The only other option I am aware of is to emulate some mouse movement or keyboard stroke every ten minutes to simulate user interaction. Anyone got any ideas on how this could be done?

Should also point out this software only works in IE7/8 so any Firefox addons or similar won't work.

Any ideas welcome.

Thanks.

Tons of macro recorders online. I imagine it would be pretty easy to have one simulate a mouse click every 10 minutes.

Edit: ^ above looks like it'll do exactly what you need.

Drinking bird + keyboard.

Hilarious! :-D

I can just imagine a business somewhere with a large high tech office and a central pc with a large screen for everyone to see and a quietish tapping sound every few minutes as the bird swoops down and taps the keyboard!

hahaha - Great Idea!

Is it an app that you host internally (i.e. you have access to the hosting environment)?
