Okay. Now and then when I think my PC is running slow it turns out I have spyware roaming my computer. So using Spyboy S&D I put a rest to that. I also have Ad-aware Pro.

Now its all well and great being able to delete them but they seem to normally be the same old ones.

So what can I do to stop the spyware getting near me in the first place?

I have Windows XP Pro running Sygate Pro firewall and Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal helping me out.

So what can I do to help stop this.

I have recently reinstalled Windows and I have got the same firewall but I have changed antivirus from Etrust Antivirus to the one mentioned above. Also before that I had Noddy32.

So I have looked at the stickies and I can clean my computer but I don't understand fully how it gets to the PC and how its allowed to write it's self to my computer.

Can a firewall block spyware? Can I upgrade to say Zonealarm? Change antivirus (does the real time feature find and remove spyware/ add ware)?

I try not to have much loading up at the start, so i'd rather change programs than have another one loading up running in the background all the time.

What do you use to battle it bar a stick?

Spyware is usually self-inflicted to an extent. The best action is to take more care in what you install.

AV products generally don't offer much protection against spyware but firewalls, such as zonealarm, do go some way in preventing their operation. I'd recommend you give Windows Defender a try.

Spyware slows your computer but then so does running an array of security products. I personally don't use anything.

So don't you get spyware? I use the torrents a lot but I thought these were okay for virus' and spyware. But looks like I'm wrong.

I don't use Limewire very much now as you didn't no what you were downloading with that.
