Stopping/Starting whilst moving forward??

I have just bought Crysis and Farcry2, and I'm stopping and starting whilst moving forwards in both games, even though I'm keeping the forwards button pressed.

I thought that it was a feature of Crysis initially, i.e moving forwards in a cautious manner, but I've just completed the updates for Farcry 2 and this is now happening in Farcry as well, but it wasn't before I downloaded the updates.

I can't see any way of getting rid of this, if it is a movement feature, so I'm wondering if there's something wrong, or if I'm a complete idiot that's missing something?

Occasionally my keyboard has a spazz fit and the W key gets stuck on. Could be the case with yours?

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm not using a controller at all and I've reset the keys I'm using to the arrow keys. The keys don't appear to be sticking as it's only in these two games.

Farcry wasn't doing this before the update, but Crysis was, so I thought it was a feature of the game. Now that the same things happening in Farcry 2 I think it's a glitch. I can't find anything on any of the game forums and Ubisoft want your inside leg measurement before you can acces their help facilities (which really annoys me, so they can go away). :D

The shop can have their bloomin' games back if I can't sort this!

I highly doubt it's the games's fault because it are 2 different games on 2 different engines by 2 different devellopers. Try a different keyboard.

Good point. I hadn't thought of it that way. I'll try putting the keys back to default first and see. Ta.

Is this just when you're running? Because in both games I think when you're running you can't use A or D without slowing down again and re-pressing the run button. It's kind of annoying but i've gotten used to it. Either it's the same for everyone or we both have the same problem. I'm talking about Crysis/Warhead and Farcry 2 here.

Errrrrr? I haven't noticed either in either games.

edit: just tested it in farcry 2 and no such thing here. When I press shift to sprint and then W and A to strafe then it slows down yeah, but when releasing A it goes back sprinting no need to repress shift or W.
Pretty sure crysis is fine too as played warhead less than 2 weeks ago.

When you say stopping and starting, is it almost as if the game skips?

What rig are you running? The problem may be that your pc cannot adequately run the games.

In Farcry 2 when i'm holding down shift and W to run, if I press A or D at the same time I stop running.

Maybe we both have the same problem. I have a G11 keyboard but i'm pretty sure the same thing happened on my old keyboard too.

See my edit, you can't sprint and strafe at once ingame, but when releasing the sideways strafe button, be it A or D, it goes back sprinting without the need to press W or shift again.

The OP says his main characters stops walking forward even though he's still holding W though and needs to repress W to continue walking.

I changed back to the defaults and the problem has lessened but is still there. I'll change the batteries in the keyboard, just in case. Whilst sprinting it happens less.

The rig is a Q6600@3Ghz/Gtx 280/P5Q with 4 Gig of Ram, which should run both games fine. The stop/start is simply as if the character has stopped moving. Release the button and press again and he's off....briefly. I haven't noticed the issue whilst in a firefight, and it doesn't happen while driving the car, so I'm a little stumped.

I get this problem when my wireless mouse and keyboard are both very close to the receiver. If I move the mouse a few inches further away, the problem disappears.

Well, well, well (three holes in the ground). Who'd have thought it? :D
