Stoptober|NHS Campaign

Finding it hard today, I'm now at the typical 3rd day where I start to tell myself just to smoke and convince myself why I should.

Major depression setting in, worse than I've had in the past.

Don't do it, the NHS are promoting healthy sex in December, it's called Sexember! Fight the depression and have some freshly squeezed orange juice, which seems to be helping the craves and sweats lol :D

after 3 days, when you smell smoke. its really really nasty. also try smelling someone just after they had a cig. they stink. preferably a friend. not a random on the street

What's the deal with these e-cigs then? Any ones to avoid or aim for?

I'm getting on fine so far this month, bought some of the NiQuitIn Minis but they don't really seem to have an effect so just gonna stick with cold turkey for the most part. The only time I've struggled was in the pub on Sat night, which an e-cig could solve.

Theres a thread in general mate, look for "vapers thread". Before you go investing money though, just buy yourself a single disposable "Nicolite" from WH Smith or Tesco Pharmacy for £7. I still use them even now and havent bothered buying various e-cig paraphernalia.

Nicolite do a rechargable e-cig, you then buy refill cartridges at £7 for 3. Each cartridge lasts me a day, equivalent to about 20 ciggies. They work for me so havent yet bothered to investigate the complex and somewhat technical e-cigs online.

They really are worth trying. I enjoy them, you really do get that hit at your throat like a real ciggie and it really gets rid of those early morning/after meal cravings, at least with the "high" cartridges. Do be careful though, as youre effectively still addictied to nicotine. Which in my opinion, as a transition phase, is cheaper and healthier than being addicted to cigarettes.

How's everyone getting on with this?

I've given up a few times in the past (smoked for 15 years and I'm only 30) but this time I seem to be doing much better. I've thought a few times I could've smoked if I wanted to, but just found something else to do instead. Even more surprising that I've been off work this week and just knocking around the house so I'd normally have been hanging out the window with a rollie in my gob every hour.

Rather than looking at it as denying myself something I like doing, this time I'm actually focusing on not doing something that's probably going to kill me one day.

So far so good :)

I had a cig last night, just started again and it made me turn into a little girl and go to bed at 9:30, felt sick as a dog!

Read that book by alan carr a good while ago... not the funny man, the other one. It worked pretty well for me, gave up for years, had afew cigs in the last week for no reason what-so-ever, being social. Now i am finding it hard to enjoy it as my body just rejects the damn things!

Infact thinking about having a fag is turning my stomach now! I've got a fresh pouch of baccy next to me and don't want to touch the thing!

Avoid Cigirex like the plague. They're scammers.

Smoking 3 ciggies on the bounce in school gave a wee head rush (horrible now to be fair)- a reason right there (boredom)

Sometimes listening to people chatting about being amazing and not smoking makes me wanna smoke myself to death.

I am doing better than I have ever done with having given up. I have "given up" at least 4 times in the past 13 years (I am 28), longest I gave up for was 2 years, no idea why I started again after that. This time round however, I have had almost no cravings, and am feeling fantastic!
