Storage ideas for damp garage

We're running out of storage space in our loft, so I'm looking to make use of our garage. The problem is that it's a garage in a compound around the corner and is not particularly weather proof. We could certainly improve it, but it's never going to be ideal and will always be slightly damp, freezing at times etc.

Any ideas on how we could store things in there and keep it in a decent condition? It's things like kids clothes and toys so it's not something we want to get damp/mouldy.

I've used those vacuum pack bags before but I'm not sure if they'd be hardy enough.

Unless it's valuable or sentimentally important get rid. We hung onto stuff for years and only really started a clear out this year - huge difference and wish we'd done it earlier. Yes we may have another kid in the future but having had one we know the "everything new" mentality is nonsense and we'll just get what we need at the time, rather than having a loft and several cupboards full of prams, walkers, cot, toys, clothing etc.

PS if you need to vacuum pack bags will help a bit but not if they are kept in an area which can get close to freezing, the warming/cooling cycle will eventually break the seal. If it's in a garage though I'd expect it to be fine.

But I'd still recommend getting rid.. plus that stuff unmoldy is actually worth a small fortune in the short term. Wife made 1K for 2x 4hour saturdays at mum and baby sales.

If you sold it for 1k, I'm guessing it probably cost you 2-3k, so for the sake of a bit of storage I'd rather keep hold. Especially as we have another one on the way so will definitely reuse some of it.

Do you think those plastic storage boxes from b and q and the like combined with the vacuum bags would be weatherproof enough?
