SPOILER WILL HAVE SOME EXTRA QUESTIONS/THOUGHTS

  1. 360mm in the front and 240mm in roof or 2 x 240mm with one at the bottom? - 360mm in the front and 240mm X-flow in the roof.
  2. What block should I get for the graphics card?
  3. Are the SP120's the best for the job?
  4. Can I mount a HDD in the top 5.25" drive with a 360mm rad in the front? - CM Storm have mounting brackets which I need.

I have a EK CPU block coming with a EK 4.0 Pump, do you think the pump will handle it? I was worried as the 360mm Rad has the barbs at the bottom? - That isn't my system in there, it's just a picture I got from Cooler Master, It will most likely be one GPU for the time being, also switch the in and out on the CPU block. The blue block next to the SSD rack is the Pump, I think it may slot between them.

Hi guys,

I'm looking for some advice and answers across a couple forums to get some ideas together for my build come July/August. I am looking to get a custom watercooling loop in my CM Storm Trooper along with some other things which I need advice on. As I seemed to be starting to figure out what to do watercooling wise I thought I'd come over here and get some decent advice.

I'm looking for 2 x 240mm rads that will fit my case and cool a 3570k/4570k & a single graphics card 7950-70/8950-70 & eventually a second. I'm looking for recommendations on what radiators to use & what fans to partner with them.

More info found in my other thread here - Caee Central Thread

So, I need a 280mm radiator in the roof and a 240mm in the bottom. Would you recommend push/pull as I was told it can be quite pointless and was told to use these radiators. Opinions and help, I have some other questions in the other thread surrounding the case itself if you want to help me over there!

Questions -

What would be the best way to have my res & pump within the case? - I like the dual bay combo, think it looks quite smart.
Will the current case fan controller handle all the fans? - Fan splitters & extenders (It has 4 connected as standard)
Would mounting a 360mm radiator in the front be possible with room to have SSD/HDD mounted at the very top? - Check other thread for links

GT Stealth is low profile and perfect for the top of the case. The space between the motherboard and the top of the case is 60mm so I need to fit fans and a radiator up there as you can only mount 1 fan in the roof.

Would a 240mm in the roof with SP fans be better than a 280mm in the roof with AF fans?

Dude search youtube for storm trooper mods you can fit a good 360 full fat rad in the roof i know because i have the stryker and im doing the mods myself its basicaly drill out a few rivets and moding the carry handle and you can have a good amount of radigde in the top :)

I know TTL Customs :D, I don't want to mod my case though, otherwise I would, I'd rather not have to start slicing and dicing the case ah, that's not one of my skills!

I think 2 x 240mm will do me nicely and look quite nice. If I ever want to get into modding i'll think about adding a 360mm and cut a nice chunk out the top. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Im sure you could do it lol im not perfect my self but im willing to go slow and do it wright :) but if you dont want to mods in sure you get get descent one in the floor buy just knocking off the box guide rails in the bottom

I have a storm trooper and i have put 2x 240mm alpha neXXXos 60mm rads BUT i made a mistake as 60mm is way to thick for the top i couldn't get the fans in so had to mod and put them on the outside on top. so beware when buying you need a slim rad for you to get fans inside the case with the RAD. Also you wont be able to use push/pull on top as there is not much space and to be honest doesn't make much difference

If I feel confident and get my hands on the right tools I might give that a try, but I do enjoy the usefulness of the handle at times!

Got that noted down and sorted. It can handle a max of 60mm from the top of the case to the top of the motherboard, so a max radiator 35mm thickness can be used. The one in the bottom however will be mighty thick!

I have contacted CM and waiting a reply as I saw this -

A clever builder may be able to install a 480mm (Quad) watercooling radiator in the front of the case.

How possible do you think it is? And does anyone have anything to add with my above questions?

I'm in the middle of a ST build of my own. I have gone with a 240 Monsta up front and a ST30 360 up top. For the top a 30mm thick is about the only option you have really. If you mount a 360 up front the only way you can mount a hard drive is to loose the bottom drawer. Also you nee to remember, if you front mount a rad you will need to but a mounting bracket, as once the drive bays are removed, there is nothing to mount even a fan too. The 360 roof mod is such an easy mod, it is only 3 small cuts with a jigsaw. Be careful with the front rad plus fan thickness, because with my Monsta in push pull, there is only a 2mm gap to spare between the res and the GPU.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm still a little confused as to where things would be best, and if I had the expertise to do the roof mod I probably would. Shame a 360mm can't be put in the roof as standard.

I think a 360 in the front and 240 in the roof will work nicely.

All i can say is make sure you get the four pin fans i got the 3 pins one with my V8 kit so one runs full pel till i can get a spliter or afford a FC but since we only have 3 drive bays in theses cases and mines is a dual bay rez im lothed to cover up my fill port
