Hey all im looking to upgrade my speakers and amp to save space.

I'm looking at a budget of £600 for both and currently looking at the SR608 onkyo for £280-£300 & the boston acoustics XS for £269.

Im not an audiophile but want a nice setup to replace the existing kit (plus the MS308 died).

Before going to listen at RS any other suggestions? It will be used to listen to sky, music and movies via a blu ray. (I understand a stereo amp will be better but limited space means 1 AV amp atm).

Any suggestions appreciated & an idea why the setup would be better than what ive looked at above.

What speakers do you currently have?

Seeing as your going from a Sony, I would recommend a Denon or a Yamaha as personally I do think they sound better than equivalent Onkyo amps.

Speaker wise, does it have to be small or can you accommodate large speakers aswell?

they have to be small.

I have (minus the ms308 sub which died) 4 x Mordaunt short MS202 & eltax symphony center.

+1 and quoted for truth..lol, went from an older high end Sony amp, which sounded pretty excellent to a Denon 2310...the difference was phenominal, my existing speakers had a new lease of life....especially watching a blu ray on pure direct mode.
I would go for a Denon 1911...around £250 mark on RS I think :)
