I'm looking to record the screen whilst I'm playing Timeshock Pinball, however as it isn't 3D accelerated Afterburner doesn't appear to work.

Can anyone suggest a single application solution? I've tried camstudio and it doesn't appear to work.

Fraps at Half video size will record about 6 mins per 4 gig. You could always merge the videos together or edit somehow.

Actually this thread could come in handy as me and my friend want to record some PC gameplay. Fraps worked well as it records sound and my mic.

Get Dxtory with the x264 codec, you will get around 12 minutes per 4gb recording, also you can choose multiple audio channels. But better than fraps and you don't need to faff on converting the video footage just merge them together and your done.

Dxtory also comes with a program that will stitch them all together as well.

From what i've seen of obs project, you still need a second piece of software to capture the screen as its mainly for streaming so i think obs project would be no good as he wants a single piece of software to use.

I maybe wrong as i haven't actually used it but from the setup videos i watched on youtube people were using Dxtory to capture the screen and obs to stream the captured screen to twitch.

It (OBS) can capture this:

Software Capture

- Used for capturing a specific monitor or window. This can be any window including fullscreen windowed games, the only thing you can't capture with this is games running in fullscreen. If Windows Aero is enabled, using the Window Capture option here will only see that window, and not things overlayed on top of it. This won't work with Aero disabled. If you're using Monitor Capture at all, make sure that Aero is disabled for best performance (It can be set to be disabled when you start OBS from the Video section of the settings) You can specify only a region of a monitor or window capture, set it's opacity and chroma key it (Useful for overlaying an IRC window)

This is also in experimental stages:

Add Game Capture

- Still in it's experimental stages, this allows you to capture a game that is running fullscreen. Make sure you're not running similar applications that hook fullscreen games such as FRAPS and Dxtory.
