Strang thing in mw2

So i just joined a game in mw2 where there was no mavity and you could only use a sniper rifle.

When the game ended i levelled up to 70 straight away (was at prestige 1 level 57)

What the hell happened? Will they reset my account to what it was?

Hacked lobby Getting quite common now. They shouldn't reset you not your fault after all.

I had a hacked game lobby many times, went straight to 70 after three games of having bought it, not terribly happy :/

Had the same thing happen to me yesterday and when it said it was a scoutknifes server like something from Counter Strike. But after I left, I went and joined another and showed up as level 70 with all the bits unlocked when I know I was only level 54/55ish before.

Don't know if anything is going to happen to my account or not.

I accidentally ended up in a hacked xp server in about January. I realised after 1 kill though as i went from about level 42 to 57 or something from 1 kill. I immediately left the server. Its a bit annoying because the game has been out long enough for people to have genuinly got to 10th level prestigue. When you see one you automatically assume they hacked their way there. I'm only 6th level prestigue myself.

I don't think you will be penalised at all for ending in a rank hack server. I see far too many **** prestigue rank 70 players running around that no way got their of their own merits

P2P being the reasons how it can happen... if for example you edit your server files for some random crappy game mode to run instead of the vanilla version when you're selected as the server your files are what sets the gametype.

I've had to make sure I backup my config before playing because of this... (you won't get banned for it, etc.).

You can, if you want to, press ALT+F4 to close Modern Warfare. This way Steam will not Sync your game and thus anything you've done will not take effect.
