Strange 580 issue

recently my monitor seemingly goes black for about 10 seconds and then comes back on. This happens every few hours when playing games.

this has only happened recently say the last week or so.

any idea what might be causing it? gfx card temps are 85oC max.

You overclocking? Could be the VRM's overheating.

does the gpu restart when it comes back, or all seems normal? That is, if you use something like msi afterburner/evga precision, do the clocks all drop when it's blacked out?

yeah im overclocking

basically the fan stops on the case

got 850 antec quad psu btw

Mine has done exactly this when Overclocking are reverts back to default clocks after the black screen.

Some games are more sensitive than others

Not sure what is causing it but im 99% sure its to do with overclocking,im playing at default clocks for a few days to see if anything happens.

Compared to my 480 ive found the 580 a lot more sensitive when overclocking

Sounds familiar, for me it was caused by unstable overclock when trying to find my cards limits

Just got the black screen today running 3Dmark 11 with 900 core, so yeah I would put it down to an unstable overclock.
