Strange, almost fuzzy lines whilst playing games?

I get it on any decent graphiced game. My computer is definitely powerful enough run them but every now and again there'll be weird fuzzy lines. Anyone know what the cause of this is? I don't get it in Counter-Strike but get it in Crysis and Skyrim - in Crysis it's to the point where it's unplayable.

Graphics card is a GTX460 that's barely been used (certainly not for gaming anyway).

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like artifacting, hard to tell from the description. Is it possible to get a screenshot or photo with a camera?

Haven't got the time to get a photo or screenshot at the moment. It's hard to describe but i will add that it's easier to see/appears on more solid colour backgrounds.

What PSU are you running?

Have you tried the latest/any other drivers?

Have you tried a different monitor?

Antec TruePower 650W

I haven't updated to the most recent drivers but i was getting it when i first built the PC with the latest drivers at the time

I've tried it on my 32inch HDTV and get the same.

Installing the latest drivers should be your first port of call then. Although I do think by your description the video card could well be borked.

I'll try that tommorrow. I really hope not though, i've barely got any use out of this card and it happened the first time i used it on a somewhat demanding game. Should've asked for help back then really. (duhhh :()

Will see what i can do with the cables aswell.

What's the best way to check my graphics card temperature?

Ok will do. Thanks a lot. Will do all this stuff tommorrow.

One more question, i've looked on a couple of other forums old posts and there's a suggestion it might be down to anti-aliasing or maybe even vsync? Any likelyhood of that?

Installed the new drivers, reseated the graphics card, checked all the cables and it's still happening. :( A picture doesn't pick it up. I wish i could explain it better.

I turn intel speedstep off in the bios? Knowing my lucky it's already off. Don't understand the c1e c3/c6 stuff you're talking about.

Still no problems. :)

When i was googling about it, i was surprised at how many people never found a solution, even after dozens of posts. A lot of people even RMA'd 2 or 3 times and couldn't get any answer from ATI or nVidia. All the case of some electrical inteference. Switch your VGA or VGA-DVI cables to some DVI-DVI cables or get yourselves a new monitor!
