I am encountering a strange audio glitch with my PC. I have always had my PC connecting to my LCD TV via a vga cable and sound running from my xfi card to my logitech z5400 speakers with no problems.
Yesterday i received a shiny new 42" 3d LG TV and decided, rather than connect it via vga, i would use a hdmi cable as my gfx card has a hdmi port. This connected fine and picture is great, however the audio was now coming through the tv speaker and not my logitech z5400 setup. I realised the new hdmi cable had been defaulted to be used for audio. No problem i thought, popped into control panel and disabled the hdmi for audio and set my xfi card to default and the audio is now coming through my z5400's again.
However, i now have this problem which i never had before. Every now and then i get this real high pitched squeal through the speakers which nearly bursts my eardrums and then lose audio for a bit. The only way i can describe it is like that sound from the matrix when the liquid silver stuff goes down his throat!
Any idea's what is causing this? I'm thinking some kind of conflict between my xfi card wanting to provide audio through my speakers and my gfx crd wanting to provide audio through the hdmi cable. However with hdmi audio disabled and my xfi set as default i can't think why it would be happening.
