Strange boot cd problem..

Hi,

I've just built my first PC and suprisingly had no problems with the hardware side, but I'm having problems with windows.

As a cost saving measure :o the one thing I didn't buy was new hardrives, I figured I would just move them across. My first boot crashed less than a second after it reached the windows loading screen - I forgot that the version of windows currently on the drives was a company tailored recovery disk thing.

So a full windows reinstall it is. I've aquired a proper windows cd, set the bios to boot from cd etc. When I get to the "press any key to boot from cd" screen my keyboard stops working and the pc moves on to boot from the next boot preference (hard drive = crash). My keyboard works when the pc first turns on - I can access the BIOS etc - I can even access "Boot options" where I can choose a location to boot from - guess what, keyboard stops working!

Did a search on here and google and couldn't find anything.. any suggestions or advice would be appreciated!

TIA

Do you have to press one of the F keys to get in to the BIOS?

Might want to check that you don't need to hold Fn and press your F key :)

Cheers for the quick reply

BIOS key is delete, but I can use F keys to go into the other options (eg. previously mentioned boot options).

Just tried an F key on that screen with no luck. Toggling the caps lock key doesn't turn the LED on and off, the keyboard just goes dead :o.
