Strange BSOD behaviour

Hi,

I have a OcUK Titan MkII from 2013 (OS ssd drive and hdd data drive), and about 2 months ago it started the following weird cycle of behaviour:

  • The machine started crashing after about 10 minutes uptime with BSOD messages like IRQ_LESS_THAN_EQUAL and MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
  • Formatted OS drive and re-installed win7. Everything 100% fine for a week or two, no crashes at all.
  • Then (possibly after a bad driver via windows update) the crashes started again
  • Did a system restore to a previous point when the machine was known to be working ok, crashes persisted.

Purely based on the bsod, it seems like a memory issue...but the fact the machine runs fine for several weeks first, and then fails, has got me scratching my head (not convinced its a bad driver being distributed via windows update). Anybody have any suggestions?

Welcome to the forums.

Run memtest.

You can run it from a USB stick and boot from the USB stick.

-Is it overclocked?

I ran the win7 memory test at bootup, which didn't find any errors. But I have not yet used the 3rd party memtest86.

No, it is not overclocked.

In my (limited) experience though, memory failures tend to be persistent? Going from crash every 10 minutes to nothing over the course of several weeks seems really odd.
