Hi

I've always been able to solve problems before by finding someone elses post with the same problem, but not this time! Hopefully someone can shed some light on this problem...

I have a Asus P7P55D, I7 860 and 8Gb of G-Skill F3-12800CL7D-4GBRH (4x2Gb)

It all works perfectly with 4Gb on recommended settings (7-7-7-24 1600Mhz 1.65v) - all set manually (everything else on Auto).

And When I add the second 4Gbs (so 8Gb total) it will also happily work all day on the same settings (plus tested with Prime95, MemtestX etc). But switch it off for a couple of hours and restart and I'll get BSOD within a minute of logging in (XP X64). It's perfectly repeatable! I've tried changing many the memory settings, to reduce the speed and get stability, and swapping the DIMMS, but no luck. If I go back to 4Gb, everything is fine. Go to 8Gbs again and it'll work fine again, until I cold boot.

It's got me stuck! Does anyone have any suggestions?

I don't believe the RAM is faulty (Memtest runs all night with no errors)

Thanks a lot in advance.

Darren.

Due to the load on the memory controller when using all 4 slots you sometimes need to up the IMC voltage for stability.

This 'may' also help with cold boot issues - i would try knocking the IMC voltage up by 1 or 2 increments and see if it helps.

EDIT: Upping the vCore slightly can also resolve these issues - but i would start with the IMC voltage first because of your memory setup.

Thanks for your response!

I seem to have achieved some better stability by setting the vCore manually, instead of leaving it on auto. I'll try upping the slightly IMC as well.

Looks hopeful.

Let me know how you get on - it's always interesting knowing how annoying little problems like these get resolved for future reference.

Good luck.
