I have a bit of a odd problem with my Audi A4 1.9 TDi (S Reg) - when I turn right the engine noise gets a lot louder, not as in revving higher but it vibrates through the car more, or a bit more strain is being put on it. The car has done 110k if that makes a difference :) Anyone have any ideas? Cheers!

Is it definitely the engine or could it be a CV joint? or a bearing?

Does it do it at all speeds?

Are you sure it's not a wheel bearing rather than the engine?

A wheel bearing can sound like a low pitch rumbling/grinding sound.

yeh my 156 is doing this at the moment how much do wheel bearings cost to be fixed?

Lots if you dont get it to the garage before it collapses and wrecks the hub as well.
I've never paid for wheel bearings, i couldnt tell you an exact amount.
I do know its a very steep scale of expense agaisnt how long you leave it for.

I've only ever had to get 1 bearing fixed and that was an old Polo and it cost £28 fitted.

I would think the actual bearing cost is between £15 and £30 for most cars, + fitting unless you do it yourself.

My Mondeo was around £80 for the bearing to be replaced. I knew the cost would be a bit higher than usual as the bearing was tight into the hib and wouldnt budge, a common mondeo problem.

If it is the wheel bearing then they are £23.50+ for the bearing (kit) and then whatever you get charged for fitting. Mine landed up being the best part of 60 all in on my 306 as it was really loud and rather heat glued ;)
