Hi guys

I had a call from a friend earlier who has built a media center out of an old mobo (asrock 775dual 880pro) and an E5200 (i think). The problem is the stock fan was too noisy so he ordered himself a low profile AC freezer 7, this is where it gets confusing. The stock fan works fine just a bit loud but when he plugs in the freezer 7 the fan spins for a minute or so then stops swiftly followed by the PC shutting down. He sent the fan back and received a replacement today, and has got the exact same thing happening again. Im hoping to get other to his place Sunday to have a look see if its a bios setting or something, but has anyone heard of something like this before or have any ideas what it could be?

Many thanks

think he needs to switch off the auto fan control on the motherboard

think that cpu cooler comes with a PWM fan which means it controls itself not the motherboard

tell him to give it a try :D
