Playing a bit of bfbc2 just now, noticed a bit of a funny smell coming from the system, a few minutes later the game ctd with a juddering sound in my headphones, temps in game were a pretty decent 66-64c respectively, cpu max temp core was 56c, cards are overclocked at 751/1502/1674, stock voltage of 0.987, after shutting down via the start button, upon rebooting, afterburner reports gpu temps of

gpu1, min 0, max 175
gpu2, min 0 max 145

Im running the cards on a custom fan profile.

Hey

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers to see if it reports the temps correctly.

Does not sound hot enough for it to burn possible psu?

Afterburner is now reporting temps of 38-36, 6c higher than normal at idle, using the exact same settings last night i was able to play games for a couple of hours, no probs and temps no higher than 66-64c.

are you running any other temp monitoring apps like aida 64. read a post somewhere before about aida conflicting with afterburner and causing temp spikes

No, afterburner is the only app i run that monitors gpu temps, i have it set to display on screen in game and on the lcd of my logitech g15 keyboard, funny thing is though, i set the cards back to stock, played a bit of bc2, no probs but afterburner was displaying my kill/death ratio ammo stats etc in bc2, something ive never had it set to do. The only changes to the system since yesterday were 2 microsoft updates i installed earlier tonight.

ive been getting this for a few weeks now, temps always seem fine aswell but it will give me the dreaded sound stutter then restart the pc,but i can go on sometimes for hours and its fine, ive tried everything and cant get to the bottom of it,hope oyu sort it

Using the latest official 266.58 drivers, had them installed since release. This is the first time ive had the sound stutter crash. It was only after a reboot that afterburner showed the very high temp readings of 145, 175c. In game prior to the crash they were showing at 66-64c, gonna try a reinstall of both afterburner and the nv drivers.
