I have just installed a new mb and chip in my pc. Now every minute or so I get the local area connection 'cable is unplugged error' which comes up for a couple of seconds and then goes away again and works as usual.
I have disabled 'windows can disable this device to save power' in the network cards device in the control panel. My router is still working Ok as 2 other pc's using the router at the mo do not show this problem. It is not motherboard specific (I think) as this is the second mb on this pc with the same problem. I have used onboard controllers twice plus a seperate card and still get the same problem. Could it be a bad cable? the cable I am using has worked flawlessly on my previous mb for the last 2 years.
The only common thing I can see between the 2 new mb's is a fresh install of windows with sp2 on both. Is there a setting somewhere in wondows that I am missing?
