Having an issue with my net connection, I have a couple of computers downstairs wirelessly connected to the router, randomly they both loose internet connection (at the same time).

I have tried 4 different routers so know its not them - they all display the correct lights to say connected but I cannot connect to them from downstairs - even though they say they are still connected to the router I cannot get the router homepage etc.

Sometimes it shows limited connection, sometimes not.

Both machines are running Windows 7.

On a side I tried a cat 5 cable connection to the routers and it appears the routers (all of them I have tried) are freezing. What could cause this????

when you say other faulty appliance - what could that be? I dont think its an unstable broadband as its only happening when I use the wireless computers downstairs (I think)

Just thought I would update everyone - seems that it is not the router or the computer or the line ----- it was a wireless video sender I use when the tv in the kitchen is on!

It overpowers the wireless signal, locking it up in some way so it appears there is no connection, once locked, have to switch off router and computer to reset!

Doh :) You may find a dual band router will work but probably better in the long run to get a pair of homeplugs and put a small switch downstairs to connect the PCs into.
