Strange Driver Issue (AMD)

Recently got myself an SSD, so starting from a fresh install of Win 7, i install the latest AMD drivers for my 6850 (12.4), however, when i launch BF3, it complains that im running old drivers (11.5's) which i thought was strange.

I go into the AMD control panel thing, and find that even in that, it reports my catalyst version as being 11.5, i double checked the driver i downloaded and yup, its 12.4 alright. Anybody have any idea whats going on ? Cant see how theres drivers conflicts considering this is the first driver installed on the system

I get the same problem with 12.4, except it reports as being 11.12. Roll back to 12.3, the 12.4 ones are buggy like hell.

Went to uninstall the 12.4's, blue screened when removing the driver. Rebooted, uninstalled again, everything went fine this time. Installed 12.3's, checked in the control panel, hooray ! Reporting 12.3.

AMD please do a better job with these things .....

When you did a fresh install did you install windows updates first as windows updates will install old AMD drivers if you don't look out for it.

I'm finding the leaked 12.5 betas much better than 12.4. Well worth a try.

+1. My network card was causing BSOD's with them but since I have them working BF3 is smoother and about 6% higher in frames, best driver yet IMO.

This is what happened to me. My pc installed 11.5 and couldnt work out why even tho i downloaded and installed 12.4

Use driver sweeper to uninstall your AMD drivers and do a fresh install of 12.?? . That will sort it out
