I moved to the UK some time ago and had my desktop brought to me from home. I had a big bad CRT back there, but now I'm using a Dell E176FPc. The thing is that when I plugged my "new" monitor and installed drivers for my HD4850, when Windows loads up the screen gives me a message "Optimal Resolution is 1280x1024@60hz, so change to that you **** "
So I entered safe mode and uninstalled the Ati driver and chose one from the Windows' driver list, namely - Ati Radeon HD 4800 series (Microsoft Corporation WDDM 1.1), restarted and everything worked like a charm

So my question is - why does it (the monitor) work in safe modew (1024x768) and with the Windows driver (1280x1024), but will not work with all of the ATI's drivers?
Yes I've tried older drivers. I'm using Windows 7 x64, my VGA is stock Sapphire HD4850.

Oh yes almost forgot, Hi to all of you clockheads! It's nice to be here. My name's Vlad, I like sunsets and long walks in the park (r-i-ight.. :D )
