Strange Dual Monitor Problem

I've had this problem for a while now, and I can't work out what it is for the life of me - However, I'm sure it is something fairly simple.

I run my main monitor on my computer (19" Samsung Pebble) and a 32" Goodmans HD TV both off my 8800GT. It works fine, and I love being able to watch films on the TV etc.

However, recently - I say recently because I'm not entirely sure when this changed, which I know sounds retarded.. But there we are - the TV screen has about a 1cm black border all around the image. This is not present when I use my 360 or anything with the TV, just when I have it on the S-Video input from my computer.

It also reacts to media player etc. differently. Previously if I full screened a video it would pretty much do that, full screen it. Now it runs the videos in a thin landscape style strip across the screen with a lot of really bad 'fake black' around it.

What could I have possibly done, or do, to change this?

Could it just be that the films you're playing where you get the thin landscape view use a different aspect ratio. Most films now come in the cinema aspect ratio (2.35:1) whereas your tv is probably 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio. In this case you will get the thin image on the screen.

In regards to the thin black border around the screen, is it present when it's just on the desktop or only when playing a film on the screen? If it's just when playing a film then it's probably more to do with the application you're using to play the film more than the screen itself.

No, its present when just on the desktop also.

I understand what you mean by the aspect ratio, but its not that entirely - it became a lot more pronounced, worse, the same time that the black border came about on the TV screen.
