Strange external Thunderbolt drive problem

Hi all,

I’m having problems with an external Thunderbolt drive on my iMac (27” iMac retina). The drive is a Caldigit T4 raid which up until about a week and a half ago was working flawlessly. I’ve been in touch with Caldigit support who have sent me another drive enclosure and power supply but that did not solve the problem. Naturally I am in ongoing talks with them to resolve the issue but I know this board has a lot of knowledge that I was hoping to tap into with any possible suggestions …

The problem is when I power the device on, it starts then shuts off after a second. This happens when both the drives are installed and not installed (the unit should run even with no disks in i’ve been told).

Things i’ve tried to resolve the issue:

* A different Mac (both macs run 10.11.1).
* A different Thunderbolt cable.
* Plugging the unit power supply directly into the wall rather than via a 4 way power plug (you never know).
* A completely fresh install of OSX (using a external usb drive) with just the caldigit driver installed.
* Running the device without other devices in daisy chain.
* As stated above, Caldigit supplied a new power supply and enclosure which does exactly the same thing. The replacement parts were tested by Caldigit before sending to me.

FYI I have another thunderbolt device which has been working flawlessly with the same Mac/Thunderbolt cable. No other software/OS updates were performed prior to the unit not powering up.

Its very strange. I’m usually pretty good at troubleshooting stuff but I’m flummoxed about this - as is Caldigit at the moment.

Anybody any ideas? Thanks to anyone who read through all that!
