After having a'Brown trouser moment' with a duff bios reflash, i finally got my XFX 4870 XXX edition working, installed Catalyst 9.8 with CCC, went into 'Overdrive' settings and set fan at 50% got temps in the mid 40's C, quite happy with that.

Re-booted PC earlier, now the fan keeps constantly spinning up for a second or two instead of running at a continuous speed and the temp now stays at a constant 60 C at idle?

'Enable manual fan control' is still ticked but obviously isn't working, any suggestions folks?

pci frequency to 101?
is your pc overclocked? turn that off first by clearing CMOS

then try a driver reinstall
if the problem persists, then the graphics card has probably suffered due to the bios flash

Everything running at stock speed, but if the card has suffered how come it was running well after re-flash and a couple of re-boots?

Thanks for your advice.;)

Did driver reinstall still same problem, maybe i need to reflash with another bios file in case the one i've used is corrupt?:(

Turns out the bios file i originally loaded had been slightly tweaked, downloaded standard bios and reflashed, problem solved and card running how it should do!

Thanks for your help.:)
