Hey guys, came to my computer today, browsing through my files, only to find a folder I haven't seen before! Slightly worrying as I really don't want a virus to be running rampant around my system, been fortunate enough to keep clean so far with this rig.

The name of the folder is '6c73a2cd066c4cba55a57210f1' and it is found within my documents folder.

Inside there is a single .VDM file which is named as follows:8792001B-74F3-4093-A68B-8BD3381C97AEmpasdlta

Has anyone seen this before? It's really freaking me out quite a lot!!

EDIT: The folder is in fact at the root of my drive, sorry for the incorrect information!

If i'm not mistaken the folder will have been created by Microsoft Security Essentials or Windows Defender when the definitions are updated, the folder should be deleted after the update, if it isn't deleted on the next reboot you should be safe to delete it manualy.

that's the strange thing, it won't allow me to delete the file or folder containing the file.

I am an administrator on the pc, the only user on the system, yet when I give my admin perms it still won't let me delete the file, leading me to believe it might be something more sinister.

It's also been saying at points that I need system permissions, yet I assume admins have permission to everything on a pc?

Thanks for the reply.

Thanks ever so much for the help mate, the file has gone and I am at ease now, was really worried for a minute I'll be honest.

Thank you for the help once more, very much appreciated.
