Strange Galaxy S4 charging issue

Hi all,

Yesterday I noticed my S4 wasn't charging at all when it was on so tried switching it off and charging. It does charge when switched off however it continually looks like it is cycling (ie vibrates once, displays the battery charging icon for a couple of seconds and then repeats)

I have tried reinstalling/a different ROM and it hasn't made any difference, still doesn't charge when booted. My computer also will not recognise it.

I am not using the original battery (I bought a couple of ANKER ones a few months ago, so luckliy i can charge the battery externally and switch them over, but this is far from ideal) Has anyone had a similar issue? anyway to sort it?

Mine wasnt charging so i turned it off and it started chagring again and it is now acting as normal now?

Not sure what happened.

Restarted many times and it still refuses to charge while turned on

Tried wiggling the cable? I've found samsung phones and their cables can start to get a bit flaky after a while.

if its cycling when switched off then it isnt charging properly. Something it most likely brokens. charger / cable / usb socket.
