I was reading up on what Apple considers retina, so I did an experiment. In paint in I created a purple and green chequered pattern, this caused some kind of horizontal ghosting across my screen, so like each 2 or 4 pixels were green or something, maybe in the same chequered pattern. Strangely if I did something to the pattern that made it go away it would completely go away, and if I moved the image off screen and back on again it would return.

Is this normal?

GPU: An old HD 4870
Monitor: Hazro HZ27WC

That monitor has a very high Pixel Response time 6ms this will be the reason you seeing ghosting. IPS displays are known for the ghosting its one reason a TN is the go to panel for gaming.

Tbh, I'm not sure what I'm seeing there. Does you camera have a macro setting? For really close up shots?

Does the screen have a very aggressive anti-glare coating? I just can't make it out :/

Only thing I can suggest without knowing the cause, would be try different cables (or at the very least unplug, replug them), try new/different drivers, or boot a Linux live CD and try viewing the image there.

It's not really a problem, I just want to know if it is normal. Maybe certain IPS screens do this or old ATI card.
