Strange Grease/Liquid in GPU

Looks to me that the wicking liquid out of the heat pipes has leaked out on that cooler. This would likely cause that specific GPU to overheat.

How much of gap did you have between the cards?

Cheers for the reply and I would say I could just about get my finger between both the GPU's, they where in slots right next to each other. I had checked the temperatures before and all seemed fine and no signs at least when monitoring that they where over heating.

either as jokester says something has leaked from the heat pipes.

Only other thing would be excess grease/oil from the thermal pads. Thermal pads especially the ones EVGA use can be quite greasy/oily.

Hmmm where ever this has come from could this be the cause of the card dying? either way going to try RMA it and see where it gets me. Thanks for replies so far.

Anyone vape in the house , my gpu had a nice oily layer on the baseplate , since my case is sat on a shelf at head hight presume it just sucked all the vapour in over several months.
It looked exactly like your third pic.
