Hi all,
I recently built a new gaming rig and after installing all the hardware and software/drivers etc. it was up and running like a dream :D

I have installed games such as BF:bad company 2, Diablo 3, The witcher as well as some others. These all seem to run perfectly fine on ultra/high settings with great temps(C) too. Recently however I downloaded minecraft onto it and for some strange reason the GPU load skyrockets as well as the temps. The fans on the card also start to whine somewhat quietly but very noticeably so.

I have an MSI GTX560ti Twin frozr II as well as the latest drivers,
can anyone help explain/solve this problem?

TL;DR: GTX560ti runs games like a dream but goes crazy when running minecraft

thanks in advance ;)

Try using the Nvidia control panel to force Vsync for minecraft. This will reduce the load on the card. I experienced a similar effect with my 580 and from personal testing, the very high load is caused by the card rendering some 300+ frames per second and limiting it to 60 or such will greatly reduce the load. Press F3 while in game or use Fraps to check FPS.

To force Vsync, navigate to your Java folder in the Nvidia application settings tab and find javaw.exe, then set the desired Vsync (somewhere near the bottom of the list). You can also force Anti Aliasing in this way which is pretty sweet!

Thanks a heap :D worked straight away, the anti aliasing works a treat too! Thougt it may have been a faulty card or driver, but that makes perfect sense!
