Strange hard drive failure

Running Windows 2012 server for a home setup and have 2 drives combined in a drive pool. Lately that drive letter i.e. E randomly disappears off the system and I have to reboot to get it back, also getting read errors from certain files again randomly. The other drives pooled under other drive letters are fine so I'm thinking one of these 2 drives is faulty.

I have backed up all the data so if it fails completely I can get data back but the problem I have is trying to identify which drive is bad, it is a random problem and nothing shows up on a drive scan.

Is there a way I can test these drives somehow without removing them and breaking the whole system down?
