I have recently been getting this strange error message if I leave my computer unattended for a while.

There was will bubble notice on the system tray which reads:

Windows was unable to save all the data for the file F:\$Mft (The F drive is my slave HDD). Data has been lost. Error may be caused by a failure of computer hardware or netowrk connection.

Also, strangely enough, my internet connection will have totlally cut out. About 30 seconds after touching the mouse/touching a key, the internet will reconnect it self.

Any suggestions appreciated.

NB: I have my 2 HHDDs connected on different cables. Could this be an issue?

it could be that there is an interferance between ure HDD and the internet, try a different cable for the HDD and if wireless resit wireless card/adapter and reinstal driver, if wired internet replace wire and reinstall network drivers assuming ure on broadband

Have a poke at the SMART readings from something like speedfan- Almost sounds like the HDD is failing. Also have a look in event viewer, & see if there is anything relavant there (Post any errors or warnings stamped at the time of the dropout if you're not sure)

Hope this helps.
