Strange HDMI audio problem

Hi

I'm looking for a few suggestions for an odd problem with my dads tv. Last night all was working perfectly. This morning we woke to find that there was no audio on his sky hd box but the picture was fine. It is the same problem with his blu-ray player. Other inputs work perfectly. His TV is an old 32" lcd (I don't have the model number to hand) and only has 1 HDMI port so he uses a switcher to select between Sky and BD. Thinking that the switcher might be the problem I connected the sky box directly to the TV but still we had no audio. But the strange thing is, when I connected my Apple TV directly to the TV via the same HDMI cable, picture and sound worked perfectly. :confused:

Any suggestions?

Something strange happened again. As spontaneously as it stopped working, it started working again today. As before, nothing was changed. I think dad's disappointed now though. He was hoping it would be an excuse to buy a new TV

Not exactly. He has a reason to buy a new set now. Unfortunately he doesn't have permission from mum. He's just watching everything in SD through scart for now
