I have a multiuser macbook and it has just come to my attention that permissions on home folders do not work as I would expect.
If I have two local users called Bob and John, they can see into each others home directories with read access to all folders/files that are not special mac folders e.g. desktop, movies etc.
So if Bob creates a folder in his home directory called "secret stuff", when John is logged in and navigates to the users\Bob folder, he has full read access to the secret stuff folder. Contents also show up in John's spotlight searches. John cannot view Bobs Desktop folder as it has different permissions.
This seems fundamentally "wrong" to my thinking - everything in a home folder should be no access to other users, bar the drop box.
Anyway - is this how things should work? You can manually change the permissions but this is a hassle for lots of folders. Any advice appreciated.
