Just built my new machine and am having a few problems, I sorted it but I don't know why it happened.

Basically I installed Crysis to check out the new gfx card, that installed absolutely fine, but after this I tried installing SupCom FA, COD4 and company of heroes.

Problem was in each of these installs the DVD sounded very strange and about 5% into the install I kept getting CRC errors from the source disc forcing me to abort and cancel the install.

When I uninstalled Crysis and tried the installs again, in desperation, I was surprised to see that they installed with no problem at all.

What could have caused this? I did some quick research and I've heard that Crysis uses Securom, surely this can't be the cause? I have had Crysis installed before on 32bit XP and had no problems installing anything else.

Cheers

Not sure if this is related but something called gamespy which came with Crysis caused me no end of grief. The same with Punkbuster that came with Far Cry 2 and all that secure rom stuff.

Hmm, I opted out of Gamespy but Punkbuster was installed. :( It might have been that.

Oh well :) I'll keep an eye out and see if the issue crops up again.
