Hi

I have a strange problem with an IBM T43 I just did a fresh install of XP on. It won't access certain websites eg. microsoft update, microsoft.com, avg etc.

Most other websites work fine.

I have tried a different browsers and using wired/wireless.

I can access these websites that the T43 gets a page no found on fine from my other laptop using the same internet connection.

What could be causing this?

where have you set your dns to?

is nslookup able to resolve the domains that your are unable to access via the browser?

what error does it say in the browser?

I have tried different DNS servers.

I get the 'page not found' error in IE.

I will try NSlookup and get back to you.

Deffo a trojan. I saw this on a friends machine once and it was really difficult to remove. Nope - we found it impossible to remove and had to clean install. What concerns me is where you found it? Is that a dodgy XP install?

I've tried 2 different fresh installs of xp pro sp3..one dodgy and one legit and the problem happened with both.

Straight after the install I installed the drivers and then tried websites like microsoft & avg and could not access them.

It's very strange!

By the time I got home my brother had decided to put Vista on which works fine.

I want XP on it so will have to do another reinstall first!
