My 5th Gen video 30GB IPOD has developed a strange problem in that it works perfectly when connected to my Alpine headunit in the car, yet when you disconnect it and try and connect it to charge from mains or via USB to the computer it doesn't.
It just cycles over and over, clicking, through with a dark Apple logo. I have ordered a new battery as I've had it since 2006 so the battery is probably quite knackered but it is a little annoying not being able to edit songs on it.
Any ideas?
EDIT: Got it into Disk mode and able to edit stuff. Still doesn't explain why it won't function normally without being connected to the headunit!
