I have an issue with my 16 port switch and I am not sure whether it is a fault or whether it simply is not up to the job and I need a better one.
The switch is a TP-Link TL-SG1016D and I have it connected to the following
Router
HP N40L Microserver
2 x WD Live NAS Drives
Sonos Zonebridge
PS3
Sky HD
BD Player
AV Amp
Dune Media Player
Trailing lead with Thunderbolt adapter for MBP (used to transfer CD rips and BD rips onto the Homeserver)
A week or so ago the Dune Media Player lost it's connection to the Homeserver/network, I tried another cable and that would not work either, leading me initially to think it was a socket on the switch or the Dune itself. I then swapped over the patch lead with the PS3 (at the Dune/PS3 end) and both worked perfectly fine.
This morning I connected the Thunderbolt adapter to my MBP as I had a couple of ripped BD's to move to my home server and there was no connection, I tried another lead, another socket on the switch, rebooted both switch and MBP, nothing.
I unplugged the Sonos Zonebridge and then plugged the Thunderbolt lead into that socket, it worked. I then plugged the Zonebridge into one of the spare sockets that was not working a moment ago with the TB cable, guess what? It worked.
So, is my switch faulty or just not man enough? Head hurts!
If I need a new one, any recommendations, must be 16 port.
