Strange issue when trying to update programs

When i try to update any piriform program like speccy, ccleaner etc via the "check for updates" in the right coner word 2003 opens the web page. The document is called "upadte (read-only)". A windows says "openinghttp:www.pinform.com/update"

This also occured with Avast when i clicked on one of the pop ups. My laest word update was a few weeks ago and i have not tweaked anything since then.

Also when i open a word document there is a "control toolbox" window there even though i have never used it.

Any ideas? I can of course downloed the latest version but id still like to know what this issue is all about. I did encounter a rootkit but the avast team told me it was a false positive and further scans did not pick up anything. Thanks

The Avast team said it was a false positive, thought id add it in just in case. Also i have been getting some "Interactive services Detection" pop ups recently maybe they are all linked i don't know
