Strange issue with COD2 in Vista Ultimate

Guys

I have done a fresh install of the above today, had no issues other than EAX not running when I installed COD2 on a Vista O/S before, but when I load it via the desktop icon or x-fixe it hangs and I get the 'not responding' error I have pasted below..?? I have reinstalled twice under admin account too

Any idea's? done a search but got nothing?

Edit: It load eventually but the 30sec wait is no good single player loads within seconds..!! Could my dvd be knackered and be doing a bad install maybe?

I know this sound silly but if you disconnect any ethernet cables from your PC that can solve it.
