Strange issue with Safari + Hotmail

Just wondering if anyone's had this problem before. Basically it's this weird issue with Safari on my sister's iMac. She uses Hotmail (or Windows Live Mail) a lot, and from time to time for some reason after her login the status bar would go nuts, cycle through some gibberish URLs forever and never load up the inbox. The only remedy I've found is to just delete any cookies associated with live.com, and it's fixed.

My sis isn't the best at computers, so teaching her how to delete cookies is something she'll probably forget. Surely there's a permanent fix for this?

I myself use a MacBook Pro and also visit Hotmail frequently and have never had this problem. The iMac is fully up-to-date with all the recent software updates.

Thanks in advance.

Happens to me too, always end up opening firefox. The alternative is to have another email account and just forward the mail to that, and read it though Mail. I use gmail for example.

System requirements

The classic version of Windows Live Hotmail, which is similar to MSN Hotmail, requires Windows Internet Explorer 5.0 or later or Firefox 1.5 or later.

You can use the full version of Windows Live Hotmail if your computer meets the following system requirements:

* A monitor with a screen resolution of at least 1024 x 768.
* Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or later or Firefox 1.5 or later.

So to sum up, it's not technically supported. Apple aren't the only ones that can mess you about with regards to browsers and their mail service ;)

And...

Can't sign in to Windows Live Hotmail with Safari

If you try to sign in to Windows Live Hotmail with the Safari Internet browser, you may receive an error message that states that Passport isn't available from the site or that the service is unavailable. Try the following solutions in the order that they're presented:

Sign in to and out of your Windows Live ID (The user name and password that you use to sign in to any Windows Live, MSN, or Office Live sites and services. If you have a Passport Network, Hotmail, or Messenger account, you can use it as your Windows Live ID.) account on the MSN home page.

Clear your Safari file cache and delete your cookies (A small text file, created by websites that you visit, that stores information on your computer, such as your preferences when visiting those sites.).
