I have a hp 380 g6 i think it is. It had a faulty drive that is in a raid 5 configuration. I swapped the drive out and it rebuilt the array without any problems.

But since then there is a strange green LED that is always lit on the harddrive and the hp notes for led indicators does not have any info on a green led. anyone have any idea ?

it almost looks like the LED is extra bright and is causing the led next to it, to light up when it is not realy on. But it stays static constantly.

Yea that is the same hp page that i referred to when i said there appears to be no information on a solid green led. I am not sure about the hot spare vs in the array. The drive is definitely in use in the array, i watched it build and then complete and it now has no alerts on the controller and the drive is in the array. Well it definitely appears to be in the array. it looks exactly like the other array on the same controller.

Yes my thoughts were faulty LED my boss said i should swap out it, but i wanted to make sure first that it wasn't something else or a controller problem.

Basically the drive has a status of:

Online/Activity: ON

Fault/UID LED: green flashing regularly.

OK, I have just been too look again and i think I have been mistaken.

The led are as follows:

Online/Activity: Flashing irregularly

Fault/UID LED: flasing in unison with the other LED.

I am pretty confident that it was static before, but it is now flashing as normal with the other LED in the array. But I think what is causing the fault led to go green is that the online led is so bright that it is causing led bleed.

I will monitor this, thanks for your help .
