i cannot get it to accept ffdshow to play xvid/divx files, when i open a file it just doesn't play, and no ffdshow icons in system tray, i have tried playing the file in gspot and it works fine reporting no problems...media player also doesn't work, bit that plays just the audio and no video...bit puzzled....

remove any codec packs and ffdshow you have installed
try ffdshow from here http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDShow.htm
or if you're using vista , then use these
