Strange monitor problem

I turned on my computer this afternoon and my Samsung 2433BW seems brighter. I have tried reinstalling graphics and monitor drivers and even using clone image to go back a few days.

All the settings are same as before - 65 brightness, 60 contrast all normal settings on Nvidia 8800GT drivers.

Its hard to describe, it just looks like the white level has just increased itself. Anyone have any clues? My monitor best not be knackered, ive already sent one back after it arrived with a fat green line through it

Yep, still adjustable on the monitor and in drivers. My housemate has the same screen so im going to put it next to mine and take a picture. Maybe my eyes just went funny!
 
Has the monitor got a 'dynamic contrast' (or similar) setting?

If it has it may be worth checking that it's set to 'off' - or even reaffirming the 'off' setting in case it's applying it in error.
 
Ill have a look for a dynamic contrast setting. Its still on what i had it on before it went like it - custom with 65 brightness and 60 contrast. I'll check magic colour settings again but im sure they are off like they always have been
