Hey all, linked here is a screenshot of my resource monitor. Ever since I got my new pc, I have been having latency problems in games (WoW, CSS, TF2) and thought it was just down to my internet connection being dire (On Sky connect as our area isnt enabled for anything else) but had a look and noticed svchost was using quite a lot of resources.

Does this look normal to you? Having 1000 latency is getting frustrating!

It's only using a tiny amount of traffic. I doubt it's the source of the lag spikes. Migrate to a decent ISP. :)

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah I'm looking at moving providers, problem is our exchange isn't LLU, so limited in choice there.

Have ran vires/adware scans and updated all drivers to latest versions.

The curious thing is my wifes machine sitting beside mine isnt having the same issues, shes running Win XP. Our connection is still dire anyway no matter what way you look at it so definately looking at moving to BT themselves and see what its like. In contract till Dec though.

Crikey. Have just been on the phone with BT to see what my options are - I can get BT infinity fibre optic broadband with a minimum guaranteed download of 15mb and estimated of 25mb. Going from Sky's 1mb, yes please.

Have to pay approx £50 to buy out my Sky contract, but I think its worth it at that. Line rental and broadband for the same price as with Sky too.

I have noticed that Win7 is a lot more chatty over the network than XP, i tracked it down to IPv6, Homegroups and the rest of the network aware systems inside Win7.

Don't make the same mistake twice.

Get FTTC from a decent provider such as Zen and IDNet.
