In short my windowsxp related internet devices just stop working.

I'll further explain.

A few weeks ago my wireless connection direct from my PC to my Router stopped working. Limited to no connectivity, a repair of wireless would not fix the problem. So I gave up and switched to powerline networking, after a few days the PL-ACT light started blinking instead of being in a solid state and I could no longer use the internet via powerline networking.

Through all of this my playstation3 still has no problem at all connecting to my router and my internet is fully functional for browsing and gaming via ps3.

I gave up and formatted my computer, I've had to do this a few times now, usually I only install updates up to SP2. So i figured this time around I'd reinstalling windows XP, downloaded the updates up to service pack 3. I did this yesterday and already my Powerline Networking has gone off (PL-ACT blinking again) I've not tried wireless yet but I have a feeling the result will be the same.

PL-ACT blinking according to the brief manual is "Powerline traffic detected"

The PL-ACT LED indicator turns "ON" when powerline link is detected, if the device is serving as a STATION the LED indicator will flash to indicate transmit or receive powerline activity. If the device is serving as a CCo(Central Coordinator), the LED indicator will steadily light ON, even in the presence of powerline activity.

I'm posting this from Ubuntu live CD and I did have Ubuntu installed for a few days with no networking problems at all so I'm currently pointing the finger of blame at windowsxp.

It's a legit copy of windows and I'd really like to get it working so I can game again :(
