strange noise help!

so im getting a high pitched noise coming from my pc anyone have any idea what it is its not nesseraly loud but its kind horrible to have to hear

my specs:

bit fenix shinobi case
i5 2500k 3.3 overclocked to 4.4ghz
Xigmatek Red Scorpion CPU Cooler(fan replaced with Akasa AK-FN059 120mm Ultra Quiet Venom Viper)
gigabyte z68ap-d3 ddr3 mother board
2x4 gig of kinston hyper x grey ddr3 1600mhz ram (8gb)
500gb seagate barracuda hdd
120gb sandisk extreme ssd (boot drive)
msi twin frozr iii 7950
ocz zs 650w psu
xigmatek fan relocated to front panel one antec fan side of case and bottom,antec rear fan antec top case fan

i have a horrible fear its my new graphics card (coil whine ) but have never heard this before and really dont want to have to rma my card beacause of it.

Does the tone change when the cpu is stressed?

Take side off case and listen to see where noise is loudest should give you good idea where its coming from.

Psu or graphics i suppose

Does forcing Vsync ON reduce the noise?

Try it without the graphics card connected.

well after removing the graphics card,disconecting the hdd and cd drive it seems to be the hdd making the high pitched noise! does this mean its on its way out or?(its a seagate barracuda 500gb)

what i also noticed tjhough after removing everything with the power off there was still a little high pitch noise it sounded like it was coming from the motherboard! it only stopped when i pulled out the power cord from the psu (the pc was off)
any ideas or is this normal?

Its the GPU one guy from our bf3 clan had same issue.
Or PSU but im 98% sure its the gpu...

It was still making the noise with the GPU disconnected. Do you read the thread before you comment? :rolleyes:

Stick the cpu under full load and see if the note / tone changes.

My best bet hard drive. I know seagate have bad chirping sound I fixed mine by updating the hdd firmware something you could check out.

thanks for the help

i shall load the psu/cpu and see what happens but im definetly getting a lot of noise from the hdd cureently transferring all the data to a external drive incase the hdd decides to break.

disconnect hard drive and boot off a live cd if you don't have another hard drive to test with.
