Strange noise

I just built my new pc. I started it ok and I get the normal post beep. Everything has come up on the screen ok and it's allowed me start installing windows. But evey now and again and now nearly constantly I'm getting like a high pitched whine coming from the pc speaker. I've tried swapping the speaker connections round. Anyone got any ideas what it might be?

Do you have the retail E6600? (with the Intel fan)

Are you sure its coming from the pc speaker - my retail Intel fan makes some hideous noises, just thought it might possibly be that.

Try updating the drivers for your audio controller, there may be some sort of conflict here.

No, it's water cooled.

The best I can make out is that it is coming from the speaker.

I'll update the drivers when I get Windows installed, but the noise is starting staright after I post?
